Educate. Equip. Empower.
The Omukisa Foundation
is a Ugandan charity organization focusing primarily on fostering an inclusive and equitable society for young people in need through various educational programs.
Through our projects we are building education systems that will provide education for all, while meeting the needs of people who have struggled
to access education.
Education is a right ……….
It is also the key, to helping communities move towards peace and prosperity. Supporting education is a recognition of people’s enormous potential and the right to a better future.
When you support Omukisa Foundation,
you are helping to build stronger education systems that will provide education to everyone. You are also giving people who missed out on school the chance to gain the skills and knowledge they want and need.
Everyone deserves an education regardless of age or gender, religion or physical capacity, ethnic group or displacement through conflict. Education is essential if people are to participate in the life of their own communities.

Focus
Education
All children should have the skills and confidence they need to reach their full potential. Omukisa foundation carries out transformative work in schools to help them achieve that. We committed to helping tackle poor literacy, boosting attainment and building children and young people’s life skills.
Through the funding of educational projects and training programs, we aim to enable the inclusion and equal participation of young people in their communities, and to unlock their potential for a greater future.
Infrastructure
Shelter is a basic human need. Every human being has the right to have a safe shelter. An adequate shelter is very crucial for survival as it protects us from conflicts and natural disasters. Shelter also provides security, safety, and protection from harsh weather especially during the scorching sun heat and cold winter nights.
With the help of Donor Support and the local community, Omukisa Foundation is building houses for poor and needy families across Africa.
Young Farmers Project
Almost half of the population in the Eastern district of Bugiri, Uganda, lives in absolute poverty with 30% of children being homeless.
Many children don’t get the chance to enjoy free school lunches. The current school lunch of maize and split beans doesn’t provide the children with all the vitamins and nutrition they need for healthy development.
With your help, The Omukisa Young Farmers project can help children and young people in Nabukaalu turn barren plots of land into thriving vegetable gardens so they can grow nutritious vegetables they need.
Water & Sanitation
Without access to clean water at school, children can be forced to walk miles to get a drink and wash. They often have to drink dirty water from swamps, which can make them ill with diseases like cholera. They end up missing lessons, and falling behind in class.
Communities
The reasons girls and Women miss out on education are varied and complex, but the need is straight forward. Denying women and girls the chance of an education impacts on their quality of life and can prevent them from fully participating in their communities.
Fewer than 5% of adults with disabilities across Africa are able to read or write. People living with disabilities deserve, need and want the chance to fully participate in and contribute to their household, community and nation. Accessing education is a step towards being recognised for what they can achieve.
When children start relying on the street to survive, continuing school and accessing education becomes almost impossible. However, it is precisely education that can make living on the street a temporary experience instead of a life-long sentence.
Read some of the individual stories of people who have been able to benefit from education because of Omukisa Foundation programmes and how this opportunity is helping them to overcome challenges in their life and community.
Growing up in poverty, children face tough challenges: hunger and malnutrition, limited access to education and medical services, social discrimination and isolation. But with support from people like you, we can help children get the health care, education, life skills, job-readiness training and confidence they need to create lasting change in their lives and communities. Together, we can end poverty for good. Growing up in poverty, children face tough challenges: hunger and malnutrition, limited access to education and medical services, social discrimination and isolation.
